Saxophonist Geoff Burke joins with The Oddysy to present a program of sample-based breakbeat instrumentals, paying tribute to the classic 90’s hip hop and jazz collaborations. Burke seeks to explore the connection between the vast vinyl sourced breakbeats that fueled the golden age of hip hop with modern jazz repertoire. The Oddysy is a dynamic duo made up of NYC singer and jazz bassist KJ, and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee DJ Johnny Juice (Public Enemy).

The BlackBox Ensemble presents "Gallery of Sound," a program of solo and small ensemble pieces held at RPM Underground, a Midtown bar and record store. Each solo piece will be performed in one of RPM's private rooms, creating an intimate connection between the performer and audience. Solo performances will be ongoing throughout the evening, with periodic small ensemble pieces performed in the main event space. Audience members will be free to move through the gallery at their own pace, experiencing the concert as if it were an art gallery. Throughout it all, we'll have fixed sound installations, bar service, and a permanent improvisation room, where audience members can gather with their own instruments or voices for spontaneous music making with the performers and other attendees. After a year marked by isolation and social distancing, this performance will reflect on the profundity of human connection by creating intimate and communal musical experiences.

In Hee Soo Kim’s series of work “Raw & Wild,” Kim expresses a wide variety of feelings from Kim’s daily life in New York. In his layered figurative paintings we can see that he is trying to explain many stories such like himself, neighbors, friends, his workplace, and his life in the community which he had chance to meet many people from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Kim enjoys the act of rendering people and animals in layers of paint with a strong emphasis on the yellowish color of the sand and soil of Kim’s native seaside, Haenam, South Korea. His technique of line is also quite raw and wild.
